On May 22, 2025, Seaspan Victoria Shipyards completed and delivered HMCS Calgary to the Royal Canadian Navy, marking the largest Docking Work Period (DWP) ever carried out at the facility. The 28-month project included significant engineering upgrades, maintenance, and dry-docking activities, supporting the Navy’s efforts to keep the Halifax-class frigates operational through the end of their service life. Over 1,000 workers contributed to the DWP under Seaspan’s Halifax-Class Work Period contract. The ship will now undergo final system reactivation at the Fleet Maintenance Facility in Victoria. HMCS Winnipeg is next in line for similar work.
