The first electric tugs for SAAM Towage’s fleet are ready to sail from the Port of Tuzla to Vancouver, Canada, where they will join the fleet operating in that country. The tugs have been loaded onto the MV BBC Emerald, a general cargo vessel built in 2013, with the help of the vessel’s two 400-ton cranes. The voyage from the Port of Tuzla, in Turkey to Vancouver BC would take approximately 60 days as the vessel will transit via the Strait of Magellan owing to the Panama Canal restrictions. The tugs would bolster SAAM Towage’s strength to a total of 22 tugs operating in 9 British Columbian ports.
