The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) has imposed a 90-day ban on the Antigua & Barbuda-flagged general cargo ship MV BBC Jade after inspectors found 57 tons of explosive substances incorrectly stowed during transit. This marks the third ban from Australian waters issued to a Briese Heavylift GmbH & Co ship this year. Briese Heavylift has a history of poor performance, and AMSA has previously warned that safety violations would result in strict enforcement action. The ban reflects Australia’s commitment to maritime safety and the enforcement of international standards for the transport of dangerous goods.
