On February 26, 2019 the Chamber of Shipping provided a submission on Bill C-55, an Act to amend the Oceans Act and the Canada Petroleum Resources Act and appeared before the Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans to address concerns with the proposed legislation. The key concerns were inconsistencies with the Canada Shipping Act and new powers that would allow the Minister to “freeze the footprint.”
