Pablo Rodriquez has resigned from his position as Transport Minister in the federal cabinet and will be crossing into provincial politics to seek the leadership of the Quebec Liberals. The Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, has appointed Treasury Board President, Anita Anand to take on additional duties as Canada’s Minister of Transport. Minister Anand, who also represents the riding of Oakville, has served as the Treasury Board President since and has previously served as Minister of National Defence and as Minister of Public Services and Procurement. A bigger Cabinet shuffle is anticipated in the next few months. The Chamber of Shipping had the opportunity to meet with Minister Anand and the head of the National Supply Chain Office, Robert Dick, back in March to provide input on regulatory barriers and irritants.
