Israel’s Ashdod Port has invested $650,000 in maritime tech startup Azimut.ai after a successful trial of its AI-powered situational awareness platform, Albatross. The system, which can detect and track vessels in real time even without radar or AIS data, is now being deployed at ports, offshore assets, and government sites. The funding, provided through Ashdod’s Blue Ocean CVC hub, will help the company expand domestically and internationally. Port chairman Shaul Schneider said the move reflects a strategy of turning innovation pilots into operational tools that boost safety and efficiency. Ashdod’s tech hub supports about 100 startups annually, many of which have already implemented solutions at the port or its innovation centres abroad.
