BBC Chartering, a leading German transport company specializing in heavy-lift and project cargoes, is launching a fleet of 10 innovative LakerMax multipurpose vessels designed for the St. Lawrence Seaway and the Great Lakes. These eco-friendly ships, powered by a 6,000 kW MAN B&W engine for a 15.6-knot service speed, are set to be delivered from April until 2026. Equipped with dual Liebherr LS 250 cranes for heavy lifting and boasting a spacious deck, the vessels are optimized for a wide range of cargo types, offering significant improvements in efficiency and a substantial reduction in greenhouse gas emissions per freight ton. BBC Chartering’s LakerMax series represents a step forward in the company’s commitment to providing versatile and sustainable shipping solutions.
