The British Columbia Maritime Employers Association (BCMEA) has unveiled an Indigenous mural titled Oceans Together at its Dispatch Centre in Vancouver, created by Musqueam artist Darryl Blyth. The mural, featuring two orca whales and a marine vessel in a Coast Salish style, symbolizes unity, diversity, and sustainability in the maritime industry. The initiative, supported by the BCMEA, International Longshore Warehouse Union Local 500, and local Indigenous representatives, reflects BCMEA’s commitment to reconciliation and honouring the role of Indigenous Nations in the industry. The mural was officially unveiled in a traditional Musqueam ceremony and aims to foster cultural recognition and inclusivity.
