Woodfibre LNG received a Compliance Order from the BC Environmental Assessment Office on June 17, 2024, mandating the deployment of a floatel to the project site for non-local workforce accommodation, aligning with an amended Environmental Assessment Certificate. The company prioritizes regulatory compliance and plans to relocate the floatel to Howe Sound as required. Originally approved in November 2023, the floatel, a $100 million investment, will house up to 650 project workers, offering essential services and mitigating impacts on the Squamish community. Currently stationed near Nanaimo, the floatel is poised to support construction activities in Howe Sound.
