According to the Canadian National Railway Co., recovery from the B.C. port strike will take two months. The rail company has already seen impacts from Canada’s weakening economy, and several extreme weather events, such as wildfires and severe rain, which resulted in reduced freight service for containers and lumber. Although the disruptions will have a minor impact on earnings this quarter, the backlog caused by the recent labour action will take eight weeks to clear. The company continues to plan for ramping up profitable growth through 2026.
