The Canadian-flagged bulk carrier Tim S. Dool has run aground on the US side of the St. Lawrence River near Crysler Shoal, triggering a complex salvage operation. The incident occurred Saturday afternoon as the 57-year-old vessel, owned by Algoma Central Corporation, was transporting Canadian wheat. The ship remains stable outside the navigation channel, with no reported injuries, water ingress, or environmental risks, allowing St. Lawrence Seaway traffic to continue unaffected. Efforts to refloat the vessel will likely involve lightening its load, with tugs on standby. Maritime expert Michael Folsom noted the bow of the Tim S. Dool is elevated by about three feet, requiring significant offloading to free the ship. Authorities are investigating the cause, confirming no other vessels were involved. A salvage plan is currently being finalized by the St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation.
