Earlier this week the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) Border Services Officers, represented by the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) and the Customs and Immigration Union (CIU), indicated their intent to begin job action Friday, June 7th at 1 pm Pacific if an agreement was not reached.  At the deadline, the union which represents more than 9,000 workers postponed the strike and agreed to continue negotiating with the Treasury Board. The Government of Canada’s media release notes that discussions have been productive, and are committed to reaching an agreement that is fair and reasonable for members of the Border Services Group as quickly as possible. Key issues have been pay parity, telework options, automation, pension benefits, and workplace protections.
