Salvage operations continue for the MSC Baltic III, which has remained grounded in a remote cove in Newfoundland since losing power on February 15. Despite ongoing challenges with weather and limited access, the Canadian Coast Guard reports that approximately 230 cubic meters of fuel have been removed, with transfers underway to MSC’s containership MSC Celine. Fuel removal is slow due to the need for heating and complex transfer logistics. Container removal has also progressed, including the transfer of 14 additional boxes to Corner Brook, adding to the earlier removal of hazardous cargo. With multiple hull cracks, water ingress, and ongoing coastal pollution monitoring, the operation remains focused on mitigating environmental risks. No timeline for full salvage completion has been provided.
