Cheniere Energy has taken a positive Final Investment Decision (FID) on its Corpus Christi Midscale Trains 8 & 9 and related debottlenecking project, issuing a full notice to proceed to Bechtel Energy for construction. The two new trains will add over 3 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of LNG capacity, contributing to a future total of over 30 mtpa at the Corpus Christi terminal. This marks a key milestone in Cheniere’s plan to grow its global LNG platform to 60 mtpa by the end of the decade, with further phased brownfield expansions at Corpus Christi and Sabine Pass expected to push capacity toward 75 mtpa by the early 2030s.
