Canadian National (CN), Union Pacific Railroad, and Mexico’s Grupo Mexico Transportes (GMTX) have announced the creation of Falcon Premium, an intermodal rail service that will directly connect all CN origin points within Canada and Detroit, Michigan to GMXT terminals in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, and Silao, Guanajuato, in Mexico. The service will benefit customers shipping automotive parts, food, home appliances, and temperature-controlled products. Falcon Premium will be the fastest and most reliable intermodal rail service between Canada and Mexico, combining the unique strengths of each partner. The service is designed to maximize lading weights between Mexico and Canada for greater efficiency, and it will also contribute to lower greenhouse gas emissions through reduced rail miles and significant truck-to-rail conversion.
