In December 2020, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency commenced consultation on the risk management process for shipborne wood dunnage as currently managed under its directive, D-98-08: Entry Requirements for Wood Packaging Material into Canada.  The review provides an opportunity to address challenges in remote ports where CFIA and CBSA inspections are challenging and consider the implementation of a Prevention Control Plan.  The Chamber of Shipping’s response supports a layered approach to risk management and a policy that is adaptable and flexible in terms of risk mitigation measures.
