China Ocean Shipping (COSCO) has added the Port of Prince Rupert to its CEN container service, a move expected to benefit both the port and Canadian National Railway. The expanded service connects key Chinese ports—Dalian, Xingang, Qingdao, and Shanghai—with Prince Rupert, and continues to Long Beach and Oakland. This development follows a successful collaboration between the Port of Prince Rupert, CN, and Maher Terminals to enhance intermodal infrastructure. Supported by rising demand for coal, petroleum coke, agricultural products, and containerized goods, the port reported a 40% year-over-year increase in first-quarter volume, highlighting its growing importance in trans-Pacific trade.
