COSCO (Guangdong) Shipyard has completed the conversion of the 53,000-dwt bulk carrier Pu Tuo Hai into the 2,528-TEU containership Singapore River. The three-month conversion included removing the vessel’s cranes, raising the wheelhouse and installing cell guides in the cargo holds, while retaining its original engine and hull dimensions. The vessel has secured employment with X-Press Feeders and is expected to enter regional liner service in October, with a sister-ship conversion also underway. The project reflects growing interest in flexible vessel designs and conversions capable of serving both bulk and container shipping markets.
