Fraser Grain Terminal (FGT) has an opportunity for a motivated, forward-thinking and dedicated individual to bring their passion and hands on skills to a role as Assistant Manager, Business Services for our terminal in Surrey, BC. This brand new, state of the art terminal is a joint venture between Parrish & Heimbecker, Limited (P&H) and GrainsConnect Canada Operations Inc. (GrainsConnect) and is scheduled to open in the fall of 2020.

As the Assistant Manager, Business Services, you will assist in the development and growth of the container trans-loading business at Fraser Grain terminal.

The successful candidate will be an expert in logistics and management and will apply technology and skill to effectively plan and coordinate container trans-loading operations. You will have strong analytical skills to streamline processes and meet organizational goals. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build strategic relationships will make you effective in the role. Our goal is to hire the top talent to help us operate our state of the art facility. Reporting to the Manager of Business Services, you will have an opportunity to set processes and make an impact on the business.

The Duties and Responsibilities will include:

  • Participate in daily, monthly logistics planning meetings to meet FGT targets;
  • Coordinate daily truck scheduling for movement of shipping containers;
  • Monitor and manage off dock container inventory;
  • Prepare timely and accurate shipping documentation;
  • Manage the Business Services Administration team to meet company objectives;
  • Provide clear and concise communication between shippers and shipping line stakeholders;
  • Prepare and analyze EDI reports;
  • Other duties as assigned.

The successful candidate should enter the position with the following qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in areas such as agriculture, business management, logistics or project management, or relative equivalent work experience;
  • 3-5 years’ experience in trans-loading or container management;
  • 2 -3 years of experience in a supervisory role;
  • Strong knowledge of current best practices and methodologies pertaining to bulk shipment logistics including rail, storage, ship-loading and vessel management;
  • Professionally driven to be an expert in logistics;
  • Excellent organizational and time managements skills with the ability to prioritize and achieve targets and meet deadlines;
  • High level of communication skills both verbal and written;
  • Ability to build strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Strong analytical skills to proactively identify issues and provide viable solutions to problems;
  • Familiarity with industry available logistics tracking and rate software technology;
  • Adaptable to work with changing demands in a face paced environment.
