Headquartered in Burnaby, B.C., Island Tug and Barge Ltd. (ITB), a subsidiary of Tidewater Canada Inc., is the West Coast’s largest bulk transporter of refined petroleum products. Our services include bulk fuel transportation, specialty towing and marine logistics. We are currently seeking a Dispatch Coordinator – Crew Scheduling who will play a key role in the Operations department and will primarily be responsible for scheduling seagoing crew while maintaining a safe and efficient delivery model. Reporting to the Manager, Marine Operations & Compliance, the Dispatch Coordinator – Crew Scheduling will also be expected to work collaboratively with the other members of the Operations team to ensure that the day to day voyage requirements are completed and departmental KPI’s are maintained. This position will work closely with the Sailing Port Captain and will interact with the unionized vessel crew on a regular basis playing an integral role in establishing open communication between vessel crew and management. Responsibilities also include the maintenance and upkeep of crew scheduling spreadsheets and reports, the crew seniority list and for ensuring crew certifications are maintained and in line with Transport Canada requirements. This position will also be responsible for reviewing all crew requests for vacation and additional time off, reviewing the daily payroll claims submitted by the vessel crew and participating in the monthly review of the crew payroll. Working in collaboration with the Manager, Marine Operations & Compliance, the Dispatch Coordinator – Crew Scheduling will assist with the creation and ongoing maintenance of guidelines, policies and training initiatives pertaining to vessel crew. This position will be responsible for providing vacation relief to the Dispatch Coordinator – Vessel Scheduling and will participate in the on call rotation.
Post-secondary or equivalent education, training and/or experience with a minimum of two years of crew scheduling experience in a unionized environment, preferably in the marine industry, is required. Knowledge of Transport Canada crewing regulations will be considered an asset.
