Fibreco Export Inc. is one of the largest wood biomass handling terminals in the world and recently completed a significant terminal expansion to accommodate the export of agricultural products to Europe and Asia.

Reporting directly to the President, the Manager of Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE) plays an integral role in the organization and as is responsible for ensuring best-in-class practices and the overall health and safety, security and environmental performance of Fibreco Export Inc. The incumbent is responsible for developing, promoting, monitoring and leading Fibreco’s Health and Safety, Security and Environment programs. This position ensures compliance to all applicable regulations and demonstrates leadership to ensure all HSS&E programs and standards are maintained throughout the company.

The role requires a relentless approach to safety, accident prevention and environmental compliance. The incumbent must liaise and coach individuals at all levels of the organization to affect organizational, individual and technical changes in support of excellence in safety and environmental management. This position requires an extensive understanding of legal provisions and the possession of strong business acumen to develop and implement safety and environmental controls which will ensure best-in-class results. The Manager is also responsible for producing audit methodology, and action plans for implementation and achieving full compliance in all areas of Fibreco’s operations.

The ideal candidate brings a solid track record of implementing progressive health, safety, security and environmental policies and procedures within unionized environments. The incumbent will be driven by excellence and best practices and bring a service-centric approach. Experience working collaboratively on human resources initiatives and labour relations is critical as is a proven ability to positively and proactively respond to the needs of the organization. The chosen candidate will be a strategic thinker who is passionate about health, safety and well-being, ensuring it drives business results. In addition, they will possess strong leadership behaviours to lead, influence, coach and support colleagues and their direct team.
