Headquartered in Burnaby, B.C., Island Tug and Barge Ltd. (ITB), a subsidiary of Tidewater Canada Inc., is the West Coast’s largest bulk transporter of refined petroleum products. Our services include bulk fuel transportation, specialty towing and marine logistics. We are currently seeking a Manager, Marine Operations & Compliance (MMOC) who will play a lead role in ensuring the ITB fleet, vessel crews and bargemen set the industry standard in regulatory compliance and training. Reporting to the Director of Operations, the MMOC takes a lead role in the Management of Change process while ensuring the timely execution of operational directives, operational tasks and corrective actions. To this end, the MMOC will maintain and improve management systems that track and report on action items through the task life cycle.
Responsibilities also include leading ITB towards safe and incident-free operations while managing vessel vetting and customer marine assurance programs. The management and completion of Job Task Observations and the creation of and revisions to vessel SOP’s are also critical functions of this role. The MMOC will also be responsible for leading the internal management quarterly reviews, supporting the quarterly customer Total Quality Management (TQM) reviews and planning, organizing and leading crew meetings and participating in annual crew performance reviews.
A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training and/or experience with a minimum of five years of management or administrative experience in the marine industry, preferably in the transportation of oil or petroleum products, is required.
