Headquartered in Burnaby, B.C., Tidewater Transportation Canada, Inc. (TWC), is the West Coast’s largest bulk transporter of refined petroleum products. Our services include bulk fuel transportation, specialty towing and marine logistics. We are currently seeking a Marine Electro-Mechanical Technician who will report directly to the Maintenance Manager and be responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems aboard Tidewater Canada’s vessels ensuring that all wiring, navigation and communication systems are functioning correctly. This position will also be responsible for completing other electrical and mechanical-related duties at the Berry Point facility. The successful candidate will be required to perform electrical tests, identify issues, analyze, troubleshoot and make repairs as necessary. Responsibilities will also include the completion of the electro-mechanical tasks listed in the planned/ preventative maintenance system, the management of the electrical spare parts inventory and the completion and upkeep of the electrical system maintenance history log.
Candidates for this position must possess a minimum of five years of experience as an electrician with additional consideration given to candidates who possess Red Seal Marine Electrician certification and/or work experience in a marine environment. Applicants must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a strong work ethic and will be expected to work with minimal supervision and organize and prioritize their work. They must have knowledge of applicable codes, regulations, safety protocols and marine electrical components and systems. They must also possess the ability to read blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings and be able to work with both AC and DC power systems. Applicants must be capable of physically demanding work in all weather conditions – work will be performed in a shop environment and/or on tug boats and barges, as job duties require.
