Fibreco is looking for an Operations Superintendent to join its team in North Vancouver, British Columbia. Reporting to the Manager, Operations & Logistics, the Operations Superintendent provides leadership and direction to terminal personnel and is responsible for the management and supervision of Fibreco’s terminal and stevedoring operations. 

The ideal candidate will bring a team-oriented mindset with the demonstrated ability to effectively motivate and lead change in a heavy industrial, safety-sensitive and unionized environment. The incumbent possesses a strong drive towards continuous improvement and operational excellence. The successful candidate truly understands and believes that workplace safety plays a vital role and is able to create a work environment where safety is top of mind. 

Candidate(s) will undergo a thorough employment assessment including formalized testing, interviews, and reference checks. The successful candidate will also be required, as a condition of employment, to undergo an independent company-sponsored medical examination. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee operations, logistics, and maintenance activities including providing daily direction and coaching 
  • Performance management of all direct and indirect reports
  • Ensure execution and compliance of work practices, safety policies & procedures, collective agreement, and commercial agreements
  • Identify and participate in continuous improvement projects and action items 
  • Become proficient in software systems 
  • Dispatch of Longshore and Foremen
  • Other duties as assigned

  • 5 years of supervisory experience in a heavy industrial environment 
  • Post secondary education in business, operations or similar field is preferred
  • Sound judgement and decision-making
  • Excellent people management skills accompanied by labour relations experience
  • Ability to work varying schedules which may include on-call work in a 365 day, 24/7 operational environment
