Fibreco Export Inc. is one of the largest wood biomass handling terminals in the world and just completed a significant terminal expansion to accommodate the export of agricultural products to Europe and Asia.
Fibreco is looking for an Operations Superintendent to join its team in North Vancouver, British Columbia.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Operations Superintendent provides leadership and direction to terminal personnel and is responsible for the management and supervision of Fibreco’s terminal and stevedoring operations.

The ideal candidate will bring a team-oriented mindset with the demonstrated ability to effectively motivate and lead change in a heavy industrial, safety sensitive and unionized environment. The incumbent possesses a strong drive towards continuous improvement and operational excellence. The successful candidate truly understands and believes that workplace safety plays a vital role and is able to create a work environment where safety is top of mind.

Candidate(s) will undergo a thorough employment assessment including formalized testing, interviews, and reference checks. The successful candidate will also be required, as a condition of employment, to undergo an independent company-sponsored medical examination.

Position Description

  • Plan and manage all aspects of terminal and stevedoring operations
  • A strong influential safety leader; impactful and influential
  • Continuously improve the safety culture through accountability and leading by example
  • Drive accountability by setting and communicating appropriate expectations
  • Promote integrity, transparency, teamwork and a spirited work ethic
  • Participate in the development of systems, policies, procedures and safe work practices
  • Complete other duties as assigned


  • 5 years of supervisory experience in a heavy industrial environment
  • Post-secondary education in business, operations or similar field
  • Sound judgement and decision making abilities
  • Good verbal and written communications skills
  • Excellent people management skills accompanied by labour relations experience
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor staff
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work varying schedules in a 362 day, 24/7 work environment
