Vessel Logistics Coordinator

Alliance Grain Terminal Ltd. is a Canadian owned export terminal located on the south shore of Burrard Inlet in the Port of Vancouver. AGT was acquired in 2007 by its parent companies, Paterson Global Foods, Parrish & Heimbecker Ltd. and Northwest Terminals Ltd. The facility has an annual capacity of 3.8 million metric tonnes and provides terminal services for the movement of Canadian agricultural products to export markets.

Position Description:

The Vessel Logistics Coordinator reports into the Manager, Terminal Logistics, and will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the vessel program to ensure equitable access between partners. Working closely with the Terminal Logistic Manager and the Operations group at the terminal on railcar allocation, storage and cleaning, their goal is to maximize the throughput for all AGT partners.

Nature and Scope of Work:

  • Facilitate the shipment of product from AGT to agribusiness customer;
  • Assist management with forecasting capacity target and sales management;
  • Report and analyze inventory levels and sales programs based on forecasts;
  • Communicate inventory levels and sales program results with key stakeholders to allow them to execute on plans;
  • Manage and Allocate vessel demurrage/dispatch to supporting partners;
  • Monitor and investigate variances in demurrage shortfalls.

Professional Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in logistics and transportation coordinating role;
  • Experience in transportation logistics including rail and vessel shipment an asset;
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Transportation logistics or Business Administration or equivalent experience will be considered;
  • Exceptional communications skills both verbal and written;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships both internally and externally;
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to multi-task and manage conflicting priorities;
  • Attention to detail with high accuracy of work;
  • High level of computer literacy with experience in spreadsheets, databases, communication and word processing software applications.
  • Experience in transportation logistics in agriculture related field considered an asset;
  • Vessel logistics experience preferred.
