Chantier Davie Canada Inc. (Davie) has been awarded its first contract under the National Shipbuilding Strategy by the Government of Canada for designing a fleet of six Program Icebreakers for the Canadian Coast Guard. This marks Davie’s commencement of work to renew Canada’s Arctic fleet, promising advanced, sustainable, and durable vessels suitable for harsh environments. The project, highlighted by Minister Jean-Yves Duclos, symbolizes Canada’s Arctic presence and its commitment to year-round business operations. Davie CEO, James Davies, emphasized the significance of this milestone in delivering a cutting-edge icebreaker fleet. Davie plans to set up a dedicated project management and design office, recruiting skilled professionals and engaging critical subcontractors to meet safety, environmental, and performance standards, aiming for exceptional vessel quality and performance.
