The Canadian Coast Guard’s emergency towing vessel (ETV) Atlantic Eagle towed the MV Takeshio into Constance Bank on Tuesday this week after the vessel likely suffered mechanical problems causing it to lose propulsion.  This is the first vessel to be actively towed by one of the two commercially leased ETV’s established under the Oceans Protection Plan.  No damage or pollution resulted from the incident.  The MV Takeshio is a 185-metre general cargo ship built eight years ago and registered out of Panama.
