The federal government says a 60-day red tape review has identified almost 500 ways to streamline regulations and cut costs across departments, from border services to defence. Proposals include ending Canada Border Services Agency checks on international transiting passengers, allowing low-risk dangerous goods to be transported by drone, and modernizing the Canadian Armed Forces grievance system. Treasury Board President Shafqat Ali said a new Red Tape Reduction Office will work with provinces and industry to eliminate duplication and speed up approvals. The review, a campaign pledge by Prime Minister Mark Carney, aligns with Ottawa’s push to spend less and invest more.
