Finnish state-owned Arctia will deploy the multipurpose icebreaker MSV Nordica to the Canadian Arctic under an initial one-year charter through Inuit-owned Qikiqtaaluk Horizon Arctic Services. The vessel will provide additional capacity for Canadian Coast Guard operations including icebreaking, ice management, search and rescue, and environmental response. The charter comes as Canada works to strengthen its Arctic presence amid increasing shipping activity and strategic interest in the region.
