Emily Nahanee (Squamish Nation) and John Williams (Sq’éwlets First Nation) have become the first graduates of Woodfibre LNG’s fully funded Indigenous Operator Training Program, earning their 4th Class Power Engineering certificates. Developed in partnership with the Squamish Nation Training and Trades Centre and BCIT, the program combines classroom instruction with hands-on training and cultural learning. Both graduates have now begun full-time roles as trainee operators at WLNG. The initiative, which supports Indigenous career development in the energy sector, has funded 15 students to date, with ongoing support for remaining trainees through stipends, childcare, and mentorship.
