Buffalo Rail and Infrastructure has acquired the former Canfor pulp mill in Taylor, BC, for $7 million, with plans to transform the 300-acre site into a logistics and distribution hub. The Calgary-based company intends to invest over $50 million into the project, creating around 100 construction jobs and 30 permanent positions. The hub aims to support the energy, agricultural, and forestry industries in the region, with operations expected to commence in the second quarter of 2025. This initiative represents a strategic move to utilize the site’s potential for enhancing industry growth in northeast BC, amid challenges faced by Canfor, including closures and financial losses due to shipping issues, fibre supply constraints, and market conditions.
