G2 Ocean, a leading operator in the Open Hatch shipping segment, has announced an expansion of its fleet by acquiring up to four ammonia/methanol-ready vessels, each with a capacity of 82,300 deadweight tons, from Gearbulk, one of its shareholders and pool partners. The first two ships, part of a contract with CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Longxue shipyard, are set to be delivered in the first half of 2027, with an option for two additional vessels. This addition aligns with G2 Ocean’s goal to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050 and enhances its service capabilities globally. Alongside this, Grieg Maritime Group, another shareholder and partner, will also contribute four ammonia-ready vessels to G2 Ocean’s fleet in 2026, totalling eight environmentally advanced, dual-fuel ships. This strategic fleet enhancement supports G2 Ocean’s commitment to growth and sustainability, catering to the evolving demands of international trade.
