Hapag-Lloyd has introduced a pioneering fleet-wide tracking system for dry containers called “Live Position,” enhancing transparency in shipment tracking from start to finish. This marks the first time a container shipping line has implemented such a comprehensive IoT-based tracking product on a global scale. Already, more than two-thirds of Hapag-Lloyd’s dry container fleet are equipped with these tracking devices, with plans to outfit the remainder during the summer. The system aims to close the visibility gaps in global logistics, offering customers real-time data to better manage risks and make more informed decisions. The “Live Position” tool features a user-friendly interface and robust search capabilities, making it simpler for customers to access current location data for their shipments with direct integration of tracking data into customer operational systems via API and the future addition of Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) Prediction.
