Höegh Autoliners’ multi-fuel Aurora-class vessels are advancing at China Merchants Heavy Industry (CMHI) in Jiangsu, with six vessels under construction and the first undergoing sea trials. The contract, signed in January 2022, includes twelve Aurora-class ships capable of running on marine gas oil (MGO) and liquefied natural gas (LNG), with future upgrades for ammonia or methanol fuels. The program is progressing with options for four additional vessels and secured financing. Höegh Autoliners recently received about $10.4 million from Enova for four ammonia-powered vessels, marking the largest Enova funding round for green maritime projects.
