HMM has taken delivery of HMM GREEN, a 9,000 TEU methanol-powered containership and the first in a series of nine ordered in February 2023 from HD Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries and HJ Shipbuilding & Construction. The vessel will be bunkered with bio-methanol in Shanghai, a renewable fuel that can cut carbon emissions by up to 65% and significantly reduce other pollutants. Designed with advanced environmental technologies, the ship complies with EU ETS and FuelEU Maritime regulations and can operate globally without restriction. HMM GREEN will be deployed on HMM’s FIM service (Far East Asia, India, and the Mediterranean), supporting the company’s target of achieving net-zero emissions by 2045.
