The Association of Pacific Ports (APP) has announced Ian Marr, representing the Port of Nanaimo (NPA), as its newly elected President. He succeeds Shao-Liang Chen of the Taiwan International Ports Corporation, who hosted the APP’s 110th Annual Conference. Marr, the President and CEO of NPA since 2019, has been with the Port Authority since 1987 and has a background as a Certified General Accountant and Chartered Professional Accountant. Under his leadership, the Port of Nanaimo has expanded its cargo operations and added a Vehicle Processing Centre, contributing to the port’s growth and its role as a key trade link between Vancouver Island and over 24 ports in 13 countries. This is Marr’s second term as APP President, having previously guided the association through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. The APP’s 111th Annual Conference will be held in Nanaimo, British Columbia, in August 2025. Additionally, APP members have voted to establish a new regional representative position to include Mexican ports in the association.
