Laura DiBella, Florida’s first female Secretary of Commerce, has been sworn in as a Commissioner of the US Federal Maritime Commission following Senate confirmation in December. Nominated by President Trump last September, her term will run through June 30, 2028. DiBella brings extensive maritime and port leadership experience, having served as CEO of Enterprise Florida, Executive Director of the Florida Harbor Pilots Association, and Port Director at Fernandina. She replaces Louis Sola, who resigned in June 2025. The FMC welcomed her appointment, citing her strong economic development and maritime industry credentials.
