Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC) will assume operations of the grain export terminal at Burns Harbour, Indiana, under a new agreement with Ports of Indiana. The terminal, originally built by Cargill in 1979 and shuttered in 2023, is scheduled to reopen in early 2026. Positioned on the southern shore of Lake Michigan, the port provides strategic multimodal connections via the Great Lakes, St. Lawrence Seaway, and US Inland River System, as well as access to 16 railroads. The facility includes 7.2 million bushels of storage and capacity for 200 railcars and 20 barges. LDC aims to leverage the terminal to expand market access for regional grain producers and global customers.
