HD HHI and Capital Gas Ship Management, led by Evangelos Marinakis, have received approval in principle from Lloyd’s Register for a 40,000 cu m LCO2 carrier. This project expands on their previous deal for four 22,000 cu m low-pressure LCO2 carriers. Capital Gas ordered the vessels from Hyundai, with the first pair delivered last year and two more ordered this year. Marinakis’ company joined the development of Hyundai’s LCO2 carriers in 2022. The approval was granted during Posidonia 2024, where Capital Gas, Erma First, and Babcock also agreed to install a carbon capture and storage system on the vessels. Additionally, Hyundai received approval in principle for a next-gen K-ammonia storage and powered pure car and truck carrier from the Korean Register during Posidonia.
