A.P. Moller – Maersk has placed an order for ten LNG dual-fuel containerships with China’s Yangzijiang Shipbuilding. These Neo Panamax vessels, each with a capacity of 17,000 TEUs, are valued at $202 million per ship, bringing the total contract to $2.2 billion. Deliveries are expected between 2027 and 2029. This move aligns with Maersk’s fleet renewal strategy, aiming to add 50-60 new dual-fuel ships with a combined capacity of 800,000 TEUs, split between owned and chartered vessels. The company plans to replace around 160,000 TEUs annually. Maersk also reported strong Q3 2024 financial results, with revenue reaching $15.7 billion—a 30% year-over-year increase.
