The Port of Vancouver is anticipating a record-breaking cruise season in 2024 with 329 scheduled ship visits and an estimated 1.27 million passengers, marking a 2% increase from the previous record. The port highlights its commitment to environmental sustainability, with nearly 75% of cruise calls in 2023 utilizing shore power, contributing to a reduction of over 38,000 tonnes of port-related greenhouse gas emissions since 2009. The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority aims to strengthen Vancouver’s role as a leading homeport for Alaska cruises and emphasizes collaborative efforts with cruise lines and partners to support the local tourism sector and implement environmental protection initiatives.
