Danish shipping company NORDEN has acquired a minority stake in MASH Makes, a Danish-Indian biofuel scale-up. The strategic partnership allows NORDEN to access renewable fuels, specifically bio-oil, at favourable prices. NORDEN and MASH Makes have collaborated on biofuel use since 2021, giving NORDEN insights into the viability and scalability of MASH Makes’ biofuel platform. The investment aligns with NORDEN’s climate strategy to decarbonize supply chains. It also aims to help MASH Makes bring bio-oil products to the marine fuel market and conduct the first trial on NORDEN vessels in 2024, gradually scaling up production to become a significant supplier within three years. The partnership is seen as a step towards achieving greenhouse gas reduction targets.
