Nutrien, a major fertilizer producer, warned that President Trump’s proposed 25% tariff on Canadian imports will raise costs for US farmers, likely impacting them after the spring planting season. CEO Ken Seitz stated that despite the tariff, US farmers will still have access to the fertilizer needed for planting over 90 million acres of corn in 2025. Seitz noted that the potential end of the Russia-Ukraine war won’t significantly impact Nutrien’s sales, as Russian potash is already reaching the market and Belarusian supplies remain constrained due to sanctions and logistical issues. Nutrien has assembled a team to manage tariff-related operations.
