Japanese container line Ocean Network Express (ONE) has successfully utilized shore power during lift-on and lift-off operations of an Alternative Marine Power (AMP) container at China’s Ningbo Zhoushan Port. This marks the first such operation for ONE in a Chinese port and represents a significant step in reducing emissions during port stays. AMP containers enable shore power for vessels without fixed cable reels or onboard AMP systems. The container is lifted onto the vessel upon arrival to connect to shore power and removed before departure. This approach was demonstrated during a live trial, showcasing China’s first ship-shore collaborative mobile AMP container power connection.
