Born in Vancouver to a mariner family – Stan was trained in the UK at the School of Navigation Warsash and is the Co-Chair of the Warsash Association North American Branch Alumni. He is the General Manager MOL Chemical Tankers America and President of BowTech Maritime Consultancy having spent 23 years deep-sea, commencing his career with P&O and served on Cargo Ships, Passenger Ships, Chemical/Gas Carriers and Dredgers before coming ashore. He is an accredited ISM / ISPS Lead Auditor and former Chemical Distribution Institute (CDI) Inspector/Auditor of Chemical/Gas/Bulk Ships and ClassNK Exclusive Surveyor. Risk assessment has been a common theme throughout his 50-year marine career.
He is presently a Director of the Chamber of Shipping of BC (COSBC); Director of the Western Marine Community Coalition (WMCC); Director/Past Chairman of the BC Nautical Institute (NIBC) & former HQ Steering Committee Member London; Director/Past Chairman of the Nautical Professional Education Society of Canada (NPESC) and former Steering Committee Member of the International Institute of Marine Surveyors & present Course Tutor for four modules of their HND program; former Vice Chairman of the Pacific Regional Advisory Council on Pollution Preparedness & Response, and Former Transport Canada Manager Pollution Prevention/Dangerous Goods Western Region.
