Biography

Tony is Director of Open Hatch Box Shaped Fleet at Oldendorff Carriers. He is responsible for the company’s worldwide fleet of vessels specially suited for the carriage of unitised and break bulk cargoes requiring specialized tonnage. He spent his first nine years in this capacity in Luebeck, Germany and since 2007, has been performing this task from Vancouver. Oldendorff Carriers is a vessel owner/operator headquartered in Germany and controlling over 700 vessels of 28,000-210,000 DWT. It only works in the drybulk sector.

Born and educated in Vancouver, Tony received a BachelorComm from UBC in 1982 with majors in Transportation and Industrial Relations Management followed by an MBA (UBC) in 1989. After university he worked in container shipping in London, England with CAST, then rail consolidation and trucking in Vancouver and Edmonton before joining Gearbulk in 1985. He spent 14 years with Gearbulk in Vancouver, Bergen (Norway) and Esher, (UK) before moving to Oldendorff in 1998.
