The Port of New Orleans (Port NOLA) is set to receive $73.77 million in federal funding to support the construction of the Louisiana International Terminal (LIT) project. LIT is a state-of-the-art container terminal located in Violet, Louisiana, designed to enhance cargo movement on the Mississippi River and inland waterways in the United States. The funding, provided through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s MEGA Grant Program, will support the initial phase of the $1.8 billion LIT project. This investment is in addition to contributions from private industry partners and Port NOLA. LIT is a significant initiative for Louisiana and has garnered support from numerous ports across six states and major trade associations.
