The Halifax Port Authority (HPA) has unveiled its sustainability strategy for 2024-2030 under the framework of the World Ports Sustainability Program (WPSP). This strategy focuses on several key themes outlined by WPSP, including community building, health, safety, security, digitalization, infrastructure, climate and energy, and environmental care. HPA’s commitments include reducing the severity of safety incidents, mitigating greenhouse gas emissions, and enhancing local wildlife ecosystems in and around Halifax Harbour. This initiative builds upon HPA’s existing sustainability policy and will be followed by a forthcoming sustainability report covering 2022-2023. In collaboration with the Ports of Hamburg and Valencia, HPA is also exploring the establishment of a global network of port innovation hubs aimed at fostering innovation across the global port sector by connecting diverse stakeholders and sharing innovative practices and ideas.
