PPA Notice – Operational Measures at DPW Fraser Surrey

Chamber of Shipping > Blog > News > PPA Notice – Operational Measures at DPW Fraser Surrey

The infilling of sediment in the Fraser River may reduce the available depth of water in the approaches to DP World Fraser Surrey (DPWFS). Consequently, departing vessels may need to wait for sufficient tidal assist to ensure adequate under-keel clearance or must be turned around further out in the middle of the river where the river flow is strongest and therefore wait for slack enough river current to maneuver safely.  See the attached PPA Notice to Industry – 06/2023.

DPW Fraser Surrey has advised that the current draft restrictions are in place for both inbound and outbound sailings and to expect restricted windows for any vessel with arrival/departure drafts near 11.3 metres:

Upper Berths Max Draft – 11.3 meters (berths #7, #8 and #9)
Lower Berths Max Draft – 11.3 meters (berths #3 and #4)
Berth #2  – On request
