The Port of Prince Rupert has begun trials of a solar-powered Uncrewed Surface Vehicle (USV) to collect real-time data in its waters. Operated remotely by Open Ocean Robotics, the vessel will be deployed at multiple locations over the next two weeks for tasks including environmental monitoring, research, maritime security, and hydrographic surveys. The initiative aims to test how the technology can enhance safety and data collection in North Coast waters. Mariners have been advised to give the USV extra space while it operates.
